Back in March, the official Star Wars YouTube page did a weekly unveiling of Ralph McQuarrie: Tribute To A Master, a documentary paying homage to the original franchises’ influential concept artist.
If you’re not familiar with McQuarrie then you definitely know his work. From Rancor-lined Hoth coat to Star Destroyer, McQuarrie is largely responsible for the overall look of Star Wars. In particular, he gave the planets, vehicles, and costumes of this “galaxy far, far away ” a feeling of residence.
The following documentary is a great education on “world building.” Every Star Wars fan should watch.
