As of late, there’s been much talk of resilience from the western media. For those of you who are convinced that the free world is headed to some sort of doomsday scenario, I present Kenya’s “Karate Grannies.”

AJ+ recently posted this (very) short video about a crew of elderly African women actively learning self-defense in their native Kenya. Given the chance to “fight or flight”, these grandmas chose to punch and kick instead of go quietly.

It might be a bit of a stretch, but, personally, things like this remind me that our will to survive is what makes humanity special. The moment we lay down and take it is the moment we stop being human. And I don’t know about you, dear reader, but I want my humanity intact when the bombs fall.
