Whether in school or at the workplace, we’ve all encountered someone like Regina George. As the primary antagonist in the 2004 film Mean Girls, Regina was the quintessential queen bee: Cliquish, rude, manipulative, insecure, backstabbing, sadistic, and generally just a downright horrible person who taught herself to believe that she’s not. Then there’s Christine Palmer, a goodly woman with a good heart, the latter of which is reflected in her choice vocation: As a surgeon in Dr. Strange (2016). Talking about two female characters on opposite ends of the spectrum is my way of illustrating the acting range of Rachel McAdams. Though most famous for The Notebook (2004), she can play a romantic lead just as easily as she can play a hard-boiled police officer. Why do I like her? Her cute smile and those sharp cheekbones that accentuate her smile. And though she’s a natural blonde, she plays her best roles when she has darker hair.
