The One Mile series arrives as something a little different than our usual fare. Rather than spacing things out, Chapter One and Chapter Two are being released together, telling a single story split across two films. That also means they were filmed back to back, a demanding approach that puts pressure on everyone involved. For director Adam Davidson, it meant sustaining tone, tension, and momentum across two complete movies. For Ryan Phillippe, who also serves as a producer, it meant carrying both the emotional and physical weight of the story without a reset. Tough stuff!
Chapter One begins quietly. Phillippe plays a former special forces operative trying to reconnect with his teenage daughter, played by Amélie Hoeferle, during a college road trip. That fragile calm collapses after an unexpected detour puts them in the path of a secretive, off-the-grid community. When his daughter is taken, the film locks into survival mode. He is alone, outnumbered, and forced to rely on instinct and experience to bring her home.
Chapter Two escalates the fallout. Pulled back into the nightmare by a revenge-driven abduction, he faces an enemy that now understands exactly who he is and what he can do, with villains played by actors like C. Thomas Howell adding weight to the action.
Told this way, One Mile becomes less about spectacle and more about pressure. One story, two films, and no room to breathe.
The trailer for both chapters is below. Enjoy!
