The day is here! It’s time to celebrate Star Wars in all of its glory!
May the 4th has been commandeered by Star Wars unofficially for a while now, with Disney going so far as actually celebrating it at Disneyworld. And this is great! If anything, I want more calendar days dedicated to pop culture stuff. I want a Freddie Kruger day! An Elvira Day! Or a Care Bears Day! I want a glut of made up holidays at all cost.
Having gotten that out of my system I’ll share my first time watching Star Wars. I was at Blockbuster (I know, I’m old), picking up random movies, and came across Star Wars: A New Hope. I convinced my babysitter to let me watch it and I’ll never forget what happened next. I put the video cassette (I still know, old) in the VCR, watched it from beginning to end, and took the movie out. I didn’t move one inch the entire time. It was like I was in a trance and stepped out when the credits began to roll. Of course, it has been true love ever since and I bet it was the same for quite a few other people as well!
