I recently had the chance to speak with Gilles Geary, who plays the antagonist Tarus in the upcoming sci-fi adventure Storm Rider: Legend of Hammerhead. Set 300 years after a catastrophic global flood, the film takes place in a fractured world of scattered island communities threatened by a massive, unending storm. The fortified city-state of Argos promises safety, but reaching it requires surviving dangerous trials known as Storm Riding.
In our conversation, Geary talked about bringing Tarus to life, approaching the role with both physical intensity and psychological depth, and stepping into a mythic new cinematic universe the filmmakers call the “Hydroverse.” The film features an international cast including Marco Ilsø, Billy Barratt, and James Cosmo, and aims to blend post-apocalyptic science fiction with mythic storytelling traditions.
