While the Internet continues to hold its collective breath for Robert Zemeckis’ sequel‘ to Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (seriously, guys…let it go), the good folks at The Thief Archive were kind enough to give us insight into the nearly decade long pre-production process of the original film.

Personally, I’ve always been interested in the logistics involved in adapting Gary K. Wolf’s Who Censored Roger Rabbit? to the screen. It has been well-documented how difficult it was, technically, to bring all those animated characters to the real world, but those insights typically focus on the work used in the final version of the film. This video shows us that a lot of energy goes into making a movie and, frustratingly, after all that hard work, you’re left with the impression that none of it will ever see the light of day until years later.  Fortunately for us, in one form or another, it did.
