When I was kid I remember being terrified (and I mean terrified) of werewolves. Movies like An American Werewolf in London and The Howling sure didn’t help matters, either. The former had me terrified to go to Europe and the latter is the (secret) reason I avoid the woods and small towns altogether.

But in modern times things have changed. Werewolves are more cute and cuddly than ever. Much like the current state of vampires, the depiction of werewolves drives me nuts. In my opinion, monsters aren’t supposed to be friendly and cozy. They are supposed to be s*** your pants scary.

This week’s GREAT MOMENTS is dedicated to some of the best werewolves to ever grace the screen. In particular, the transformation scenes from the movies mentioned in the article.

So to recap:

THESE ARE NOT WEREWOVES:

jd woods

Just stop it Johnny Depp, it’s not funny anymore!

TL TWILIGHT

Wipe that smile off your face, Tyler Lautner. Twilights over. Get a real job now.

Now these … these ARE WEREWOLVES!

AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (1981)

The Howling (1981)
