I feel like I’m the only one skeptical about Blade Runner 2049.

As much as I’ve come to appreciate director Denis Villeneuve‘s previous films, I remain very under-enthused by his 33-years-late follow up to 1984’s Blade Runner. I think the following trailer to Slice of Life underlines why.

Put together utilizing old school practical elements (you really can’t beat a good ol’ matte painting, folks), director Luka Hrgović has concocted a truly gorgeous short film that takes place in the Blade Runner world. And I think that’s the distinction. You can check out the trailer to Slice of Life below. It’s taken three years for this self-funded project to reach its conclusion. What Luka Hrgović and producer Dino Julius have on camera is a clear labor of love that deserves your attention.

You can find out more about the production at their official site.
