At this point, it is pretty undeniable that Ghost in the Shell’s trailer showcases some truly amazing VFX work. But imagine my surprise when I discovered that (GASP!) not all of it is digital.
In the following clip from Tested, Adam Driver (of Mythbusters fame) takes viewers inside the legendary Weta studio and shows us some of the jaw-droppingly articulated animatronics behind Ghost in the Shell. The tour is largely spoiler-free. But even if it isn’t…how could you not want to see these mechanical puppets in action when the movie hits theaters March 31st?
From Tested:
Adam Savage visits Weta Workshop to get up close with some of the practical props the effects studio made for the upcoming film Ghost in the Shell. Weta Workshop’s Richard Taylor shows Adam the mechanical geisha masks and animatronic puppets his team created, and how Weta Workshop used new fabrication and design technologies to make these props possible.
