You’ll do this again. Time is a flat circle.

For 2014, it was the first season of the HBO series “True Detective” that I deemed as a must-see for anyone I knew. It was a dark character study and murder mystery conceived by Nic Pizzolatto, directed entirely by Cary Joji Fukunaga, with characters brought to life by top-billing actors Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. Though too dark and nihilistic for some, it was a critical and fan-favorite taking place in Louisiana with several southern-American gothic undertones. With this being an anthology series, the cast and plot would be wholly changed each season.

Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch will all be starring in season two and the setting will be in some town in northern California. In the trailer below, there is no dialogue and nothing indicative about the plot. It should also be noted that, considering the replay value that the first season maintains with several fans (myself included), it’s already a tough act for the new season to follow, let alone attempt to top. Season two will debut on June 21st. Though it’ll have taken over a year to mark a proper return, I’m glad to see it again.
