It’s easy to overly-romanticize certain filmmakers. While it is good to imagine a director hammering out an idea, throwing a script on the table, and screaming “pay me to film this,” that is not how the creative process works. Especially on big budget fair. Behind the scenes there is a literal army of personnel coming up with concepts and ideas to fill in the gaps between the words and pages of a script.
This is where a company called Karakter is called in to bring some great imagery to the table. Below are their efforts for last season of Game Of Thrones, and they are beautiful. Even more fascinating is that these images closely match what ends up on the small screen. Truly, it is a black art, and we are lucky to be able to enjoy it in this internet age of ours.
