Games like the Call of Duty franchise and Dead Space have expansive narratives that explore all sorts of aspects of characters that go beyond “get from point A to point B” without dying. Because of what these character goes through, PTSD makes it’s way into the plot of these games as an aspect of these extraordinary characters.
PSTD, or post traumatic stress disorder, affects people that have been in intense or violent situations and can linger for years or decades after the events have taken place. Eurogamer has made an excellent video through it’s Low Batteries series that explores what PSTD is and how it is used in games.
