Neil Blomkamp’s concept art may have netted him an Alien movie after all.

By Derek Scarzella

Looks like Mr. Blomkamp was a bit hasty when he broke the news that his ALIEN movie wasn’t meant to be. In what is either a heroic change of heart by 20th Century Fox or a very smart marketing move (probably the later) the studio has decided to go ahead with the project. Blomkamp again used Instagram to break the news, saying “Um … So I think it’s officially my next film.”

This is not to be confused with the sequel to Prometheus that is going ahead as planned . Ridley Scott’s production company Scott Free will be producing both movies but they will not be connected in terms of story.

So there is going to be a lot of Xenomorph and Sky Jockey fun coming in the next couple years! It will be interesting to see how they do against the outslaught of Star Wars sequels and Marvel films coming down the pike. One thing that was not confirmed was whether Sigourney Weaver, who is the obvious reference in the concept art below, will be a part of this project. Here’s hoping she makes it out for one last tryst in space.

Below are the concept art drawings that landed Blomkamp this movie. Are you excited? Don’t care? Do you think it will suck? Let us know in the comments.

Woulda rocked. Was a mental stroll into the world Ridley Scott created. A photo posted by Brownsnout (@neillblomkamp) on
