I recently had the opportunity to sit down with the creative team behind Storm Rider: Legend of Hammerhead, including co-directors Zoran Lisinac and Domogoj Mazuran, along with writer, producer, and actor Neb Chupin. In our conversation, the trio dives into the origins of the film and Neb’s personal connection to the story, while also introducing their wonderfully strange genre label: “Calamari Sci-Fi.” They also discuss the larger world they’re building, known as the Hydroverse, a watery setting filled with maritime action and mythic level adventure.
We also talk about how the two directors balanced their collaboration behind the camera, the boats used during production, and the cast that helped bring the film to life, including Marco Ilsø, James Cosmo, Caroline Goodall, Billy Barratt, and Gilles Geary. Check out the full interview below to hear how this ambitious indie genre project came together. Storm Rider: Legend of Hammerhead arrives March 13th, 2026, so make sure to keep an eye out for it if you’re looking for something a little different in the world of sci-fi adventure.
