Seeing the N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton” today was fitting. Because when I arrived home later, I found Marvel paying homage to the seminal hip-hop group’s debut album of the same name. The additional recent tributes include those for Slick Rick, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, & Nicki Minaj. With the latter, Marvel’s once again using recent albums for their variant covers, presumably for relevance to a younger audience. Though these are nice, I’m waiting for them to pay tribute to “Licensed to Ill”, “Criminal Minded”, and “Long Live the Kane”.
