Over on her official YouTube page, Comic Book Girl 19 has been providing one hell of a community service with her “Epic History X-Men” series. Originally put together through a crowd-sourcing initiative, this documentary trilogy walks us through 3 decades of X-Men lore. Now, the first three episodes (below) are available to watch on YouTube for absolute nothing. Isn’t that nice?
Seriously, I can’t emphasize how much I love these. Through the power of back issues, I grew up on Chris Claremont’s X-Men of the 1970s and 1980s. These stories are uniquely bizarre (they called them “Uncanny X-Men” for a reason) and are overflowing with personality. It actually makes me a little weepy just thinking about a youth spent obsessing over Marvel’s once premiere superhero team.
