Over on YouTube, Gigguk has provided filthy casuals like myself a fairly comprehensive and totally painless look at the anime subgenre known as mecha (that is, giant robots operated by humans). With the long-awaited release of PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING last week, the timing of this seems particularly necessary.
As for PACIFIC RIM: UPRISING. It’s meh and then it’s “Oh $#!+!” If you have seen it already then you’ll know exactly what I mean. If you haven’t seen it yet then just wait for the moment that the movie turns. It’s damn near worth slogging through some of the forcefulness of the early bits of plot to get to it.
