Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.

This is Berlin born actor Norbert Grupe. Best known for such films as Die Hard and, even more famously, as Vigo the Carpathian in Ghostbusters II. MV5BMTk5MDk4NzYxNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwNjI0MDQ5NTE@._V1_SY1000_CR0,0,666,1000_AL_

No Small Parts‘ Brandon Hardesty recently put together an interesting short documentary about the life and times of Grupe. Unlike Shaun Raviv’s totally captivating article on the actor, Hardesty paints a picture of the now deceased boxer/wrestler/actor that provides a little bit of sympathy for the devil. Sort of.

Why is Grupe such a difficult figure to defend? Largely because his life’s story is a tragic one rife with violence, mystery, and bitterness. But I guarantee you you won’t be able to take your eyes off of it…
