The latest child of the Netflix-Marvel partnership, Marvel’s Defenders, has been well-received for its grounded approach in bringing together the street-level heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, seeing Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones on-screen together had many intentional connotations attached, particularly a color theme that the good folks at IGN did a tremendous job in picking up on. Red, blue, yellow, green, and white are the colors prominently associated with Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the secondary villain Alexandra, respectively. Each color reflects the personality traits of its assigned character. I know the character of the Punisher wasn’t included, but had he been, his assigned color would be black. Why? Because it’s associated with power, fear, and death….all of which Frank Castle embodies to the criminal world. See the video below for more details about the color schemes.
